The procedure will already be familiar to you.
- Prepare the tooth for bonding like any resin retained restoration.
- Process To Attach Sparkle
- Clean the tooth with pumice, a prophy jet or sandblaster.
- Etch the surface area larger than the Sparkle.
- Rinse and air dry.
- Apply bonding to the etched enamel.
- Thin with a stream of air.
- Light Cure: 10 sec.
- Apply a flowable composite onto the tooth.
- Carefully place the Sparkle onto the center of the composite.
- Smooth out excess material around the Sparkle: leave composite
thicker at the edge of the Sparkle, gradually thinning it out for
1 1/2 - 2mm away from the edge. Note: The mechanical lock of
the Sparkle into the resin is the key.
- Check to make sure the
Sparkle is in contact with the enamel.
- Light cure the lingual
surface of the tooth. 20 sec.
- Finish curing from all angles
on the labial surface. 20 sec/each angle.
- Polish edges of
the composite with rubber points to eliminate any edges.
Sparkle Removal
The removal technique is approached in the same way as removing a
bracket from a tooth.
- First polish off any composite.
- The tooth will then be polished with pumice and only the bonding
agent, not the tooth enamel, is removed.
